Today's Fun Fact:
Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey to be the national bird.
In Honor Native American Heritage Month:
James Francis Thorpe was a Native American athlete and Olympic gold medalist. A member of the Sac and Fox Nation, Thorpe was the first Native American to win a gold medal for the United States in the Olympics of 1912. He began by winning the pentathlon (long jump, javelin, discus, 200m and 1,500m). He saved the best until last, however, producing an extraordinary performance in the decathlon, which comprised the 100m, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400m, discus, 110m hurdles, pole vault, javelin and the 1,500m. He set a new world record of 8,412 points, which would stand until 1948.

Penny War
Penny War- The goal is to get as many pennies and dollars as possible. When you bring in silver, it subtracts from the pennies and dollars in a bucket. So if you want your class to win a pizza party bring in pennies and dollars, if you want to make sure that another class doesn’t win, bring in silver and put it in their buckets. Right now it looks like 6th grade is in the lead to win a pizza party.
